Cultivating Growth
Growth.
It isn’t always straight forward.
I live in SW Colorado at 7400 feet. Growing conditions are harsh, and the season is short. Weeds grow well, but my garden takes more of an effort.
The last few summers living here, I have tried to grow tomatoes with poor results.
This year, I am growing tomatoes in an area protected from the cold night sky, and they are thriving! I’ve learned a lot about tomatoes the past few months. For the first time ever, I’m probably pruning them correctly. The plants are gorgeous, and at last count, I have well over 100 green tomatoes.
But very few ripe ones.
I’ve been doing everything the experts say. Yet, they’re slow to ripen.
Why??
Similarly, many of us have goals in life.
Perhaps for our fitness, our nutrition habits, our relationships, our finances; an infinite plethora of goals we may set for ourselves.
Yet, we never seem to achieve them.
Why??
Sometimes, we fail to plan properly. Other times, life throws us a curveball.
It’s often frustrating, and when it happens too often, natural human tendency is to give up. To listen to the nay-sayers that tell you your goal cannot be accomplished.
But what if it can?
What if you simply need a tweak in your plan.
Just like my tomatoes needed the right kind of warmth and protection I wasn’t previously providing, our own growth often relies on unseen conditions. We may focus on working harder, but we miss the key shifts needed in our nervous system, our breathing patterns, or our environment.
What if struggles with your growth aren't just about what you're doing, but what's happening beneath the surface? What if you need to tend to deeper layers you don't easily see?
Perhaps a need to remove yourself from draining influences, constant digital noise, and the endless pressure of the ‘shoulds’ forced our way?
In our fast-paced world, we expect successes to come quickly, then feel like failures when we don’t live up to unrealistic expectations. We are trained to have instant results.
But, what if, like my tomatoes, we just need a little more time to “ripen”?
My tomatoes aren’t ripe…yet. But, a month ago, there were only a few blossoms, and now I have a bounty. Harvest day is on the horizon.
I would encourage you to pause today and truly see the many small steps you’ve taken. See the growth happening beneath the surface.
Your “harvest” day may not be here…yet. But it’s coming. Every day, you’re one step closer to your dreams.
If you're ready to find those 'unseen conditions' or tweak your plan for lasting growth, reach out. I'd love to help you cultivate your goals and truly flourish.
I foresee a beautiful bounty!
