Hidden Light
A friend messaged to see if I had been looking at the unusual light show. The Northern Lights, all the way in SW Colorado! It had completely slipped my mind, but I stepped outside upon receiving her text.
Maybe I could still catch it.
So, I looked outside, and all I saw was the typical dark night sky. Slightly disappointed, I walked back in and messaged “darn, I must have missed it.”
She messaged back, stating she could still see a pink glow at her house. I decided to try again. This time, I pulled on a warm jacket to combat the crisp night air and walked to the end of my driveway to gaze between the trees. As my eyes adjusted to the dark, I started to notice it. A faint pink glow, gradually emerging to a deep fuchsia as my vision adjusted. The deep pink behind the pines a beautiful sight that I almost missed.
My daughter and her friend were playing upstairs, so I urged them to look out the window. I didn’t want them to miss the spectacular sight.
As they were oohing and ahhing, the other girls’ mom sent a picture of the sky. A vibrant, deep red not visible to the naked eye, and something my phone camera hadn’t picked up. The sight was truly stunning. The difference between what we could see with the naked eye a stark and remarkable contrast to what the camera picked up.
The experience reminded me of how we often look at life.
We can become so blinded by our circumstances that we can’t see what is right in front of us. Often, we give up before we can start to adjust. We miss the subtle shifts because we turn away too soon. Perhaps the progress with a relationship, a new diet, or a workout plan.
In today’s society, we’re so geared for instant results, we lack the patience for the long game.
What would happen if we made the choice to change that?
To realize that the biggest gains come with time, and each step along the way is in an integral part of the journey. What we may see as brick walls are actually stepping stones to something better.
Sometimes, it’s not until we look through someone else’s lens that we notice how significant each little step is. The vibrancy that was in place the entire time, but we missed it because we were so distracted. Our lens obscured with the business of life.
How often to we simply need to slow down, to let our eyes adjust, in order to take it all in? To recognize the remarkable view ahead of us, hidden in plain sight.
Sometimes, we need assistance to view the same sight through another lens.
If you feel like you’re missing the vibrancy in your own life and are ready for someone help you on the path to a brighter tomorrow, let’s connect. I’d love to hear your vision and assist in focusing your lens to make the path a little smoother.
The path to vibrancy doesn’t have to wait.
